At Hinge, authenticity, integrity, and safety are at the heart of our community. Reporting is an important tool to help us maintain a respectful space for everyone—but it must be used responsibly.
Responsible Reporting
We trust our users to report behavior that violates our Member Principles and Terms of Service.
That said, Deliberate False Reports will NOT be tolerated and may result in a permanent ban.
- Reports are confidential – Your identity will never be shared with the person you report.
- Every report is taken seriously – We carefully review reports to determine appropriate action.
- False reports have consequences – Misusing the report function can result in warnings or a permanent ban.
Our Terms of Service states Hinge users may not “harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, assault, defame, harm or otherwise mistreat any person.” If you are not interested in a profile or the person displayed in the profile, you should Remove them.
What Happens If a Report Is False?
Submitting a report for inaccurate or discriminatory reasons can lead to account action, including:
- Warnings or bans for false, baseless, or retaliatory reports.
-
Immediate bans for reports made based on someone’s gender identity, race, religion, disability, or other protected traits.
- Read more about this here.
False reports take time and focus away from our Trust & Safety team’s critical work—helping those who truly need support.
