You might get a survey from us — even if you’re not currently using the app. Here’s why:
❓ What is Hinge Research?
Hinge Research is how we learn directly from daters — through surveys, interviews, and other feedback — so we can improve the experience of dating on (and off) Hinge.
🧠 Why does Hinge do research?
Our mission is to create a less lonely world by inspiring intimate in-person connections. To do that well, we need to hear what’s actually happening in your dating life. Research helps us understand your experience so we can design a better app — and get you out on great dates.
💬 How does Hinge collect feedback?
We learn from daters in a few ways:
- Surveys — These might show up in the Hinge app or land in your inbox
- Interviews — Inviting people to deep dive into their dating experiences
- Prototypes & Workshops — Asking for dater input to help co-create what we’re building
📭 I’m not on Hinge anymore. Why did I get a survey?
You might still hear from us even if you're not currently using Hinge. That’s intentional! We want to learn from a wide range of experiences — including people who’ve taken a break, had a tough time, or found a great relationship and moved on. All of that helps us improve Hinge for everyone.
🌍 Who does Hinge want to hear from?
We want to learn from all kinds of daters — across gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and dating goals. Our research is grounded in inclusivity, building with and not for daters.
🔐 How is my data used in research?
Just as with dating, consent is key. If you are invited to participate in Hinge research, you are free to opt in or decline – the choice is yours. We want to hear from you to create aggregate insights to benefit Hinge as a whole, and your individual responses will be deleted or anonymized pursuant to our Privacy Policy. Your voice helps us see the bigger picture, and we respect your privacy in return.
For interviews, you’ll similarly learn more about the study at the start of the interview and be asked if you want to continue. Across any research study, you can opt out at any time.
📧 I got an email about participating in research. Is this from Hinge?
Research will only contact you via our official @hinge.co email addresses, and we won’t contact you from any other email addresses. If you see an email that looks like it's from us, but the address doesn’t end in @hinge.co, please reach out to us or email us at hello@hinge.co so we can review.
If you ever want to unsubscribe from Hinge emails, just click Unsubscribe in the footer of any Hinge notification email.
