Discover Feed

At Hinge, we believe everyone looking for love should be able to find it. Our algorithms are designed to recommend people with mutual interests to increase the likelihood of a match

The Discover feed is where you’ll see other daters! You can access the Discover feed at any time by tapping on the “H” icon in the Lower left hand corner of the app.

The Discover feed will populate with recommendations based on mutual interest: meaning the users you see fit your preferences and you fit theirs.

How to Send a Like

In Discover you can like the part of someone's profile that stands out to you by tapping on the heart on any of the photos or prompts. Then, confirm by tapping Send Like. 

You also have the option to Add a comment: after you like part of someone's profile by tapping on the heart on any of their prompts or photos, you'll see an option to Add a comment. Type your comment in the text box and tap Send Like to confirm. Users who leave comments are 3x more likely to receive a response!

After you send a like to a profile, it will disappear from your Discover feed until the other user indicates mutual interest. If the recipient of the like/comment chooses to accept the like, they will appear as a new match in your match section of the Navigation Bar.

Additionally, for profiles you are most interested in, we also offer tools and features that further improve the probability of a match, including Priority likes (a HingeX-exclusive feature) and Roses (one free per week with the ability to purchase more).

How to Skip

To skip a profile in Discover, tap the black X at the bottom left of the profile. 

If you accidentally skip someone's profile in Discover or on your Likes You screen, just tap the back arrow in the upper right corner of your screen (add arrow icon).

Please note: you can only undo your most recent skip.

If you see a message that says "Undo unavailable," that means that you won't be able to return to that user's profile. Unfortunately, we're unable to manually restore any profiles to your Discover, Standouts, or Likes You queue.

How to Block

To permanently block or report a profile in Discover, tap the three dots at the top right of the profile and select Remove or Report, respectively. 

Additional Discover Filters Available to Subscribers

Hinge+ and HingeX subscribers have access to filter profiles by Age, Height, Dating Intentions, Active Today, and New Here. Other subscriber preferences can still be adjusted on the Dating Preferences screen. Free Hinge subscribers will continue to be able to filter by Age preferences.

To enable a dating filter, simply click the filter option you’d like to apply at the top of your Discover feed. Each time you apply a new filter, you will be shown a new profile that meets the criteria you have filtered for. 

For example, if you would like to filter to see a person of a certain height who is also active today, you would want to tap both filters. Tap the filter again to remove or adjust the filter. When a filter is added or removed a new profile will be shown in your Discover feed.
